Most companies have some idea on how to organize their primary logistics. Each company is part of a network of supply chains and the logistics between different chain partners needs a different approach. In these networks all kind of individual goals are pursued which may lead to sub optimized products and services. Supply chain management considers all the stakeholders goals and in particular the final customer. Supply-, production- and distribution processes are analyzed with a variety of methods and tools and assessed on predetermined criteria which match with the supply chain stakeholders goals as much as possible.

As a supply chain manager you are able to oversee and managing the entire supply chain of an organization. You do not only look at the organization itself but also the other parties in the chain. Within this minor you will learn and develop skills to understand and improve end-to-end supply chains. This all works within an international environment with students from different nationalities and backgrounds. These aspects makes this minor valuable to become a profound business professional.

Theoretical program (12 ec):

• Management of Resources: based on the curriculum of ASCM- Certified Production (www.ascm.org)
• Methods and tools: based on the Lean Six Sigma theory (between Green and Black Belt Level) and the SCOR Framework developed by the Supply Chain Council
• Theory of Constraints workshops based on Goldratt’s Production the ToC way management game
• Innovations in SCM
• Transport and Supply Chain Management

Practical program (18 ec):

• ASCM Case Competition: International Case competition developed by ASCM in collaboration with Deloitte
• CMI six sigma: project based on a distribution case study in which the Lean techniques and Six Sigma project methodology have to be used.
• SCOR: research a supply chain in an actual company.
• The Fresh Connection (The Fresh Connection: Supply Chain Business Game Simulation (inchainge.com) is played, offering students a learning environment around a cross functional business simulation and to make strategic and tactical decisions in the value chain.
• Business Innovation with attention for sustainable supply chains
• A wide variety of external activities to be performed and guest lecturers to attend
• An international excursion is organized to visit SCM companies abroad.
   

After completion of the minor:

• The student is able to use tools from Lean Six Sigma,  SCOR and Theory of Constraints
• Supply Chain Management skills obtained by playing a SCM business simulation (the Fresh Connection) and a Theory of Constrains management game.
• The student has gained experience in working with students from different countries.
• The student can develop logistical concepts
• The student has good project management skills
• The student understands the different objectives of the supply chain partners and the implications of supply chain changes

3 to 4 days a week activities are scheduled.

There we will be a mixture of written exams, group presentations, reports, paper writing and individual pitches.

Are you a student from another educational institution and you want to take a minor at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, you can apply in 2 steps as follows:

1)        Register for the minor of your choice via the blue button Enroll. You can find this button at the top right of the minor's page.

Download and fill in the learning agreement

Submit this learning agreement to the Exam Board of your study programme.

Once the Board of Examiners has given its approval, please register for the minor in step 2 no later than 23-05-2025.

2)      After approval, register in OSIRIS Aanmelding of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences via the link below (create an account first).

Osiris Aanmelding 

Part of the registration process is to upload the following documents:

-   The learning agreement signed by you and by your institution;

-   A scan or photo of your passport or ID card;

You will receive a message from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences whether your application has been positively assessed or not.

In OSIRIS Aanmelding, you must also upload the Evidence Paid Tuition Fee (BBC) for the academic year in which you want to follow the minor. You can request the BBC from your institution after you have signed or issued an authorization for the payment of the tuition fees for the academic year in which you want to take the minor.

You will receive a message from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences when your application has been approved.
